Summary: We would describe the villa as basic. There was no washing up bowl, sink plug or drainer, which obviously made washing up difficult so we bought a plug and drainer. There was also no kettle, although this is sometimes down to local preferences. There are 3 bathrooms in total, 1 downstairs with a shower cubicle and 2 upstairs, 1 with a bath only and 1 en suite with a corner shower tray and curtain which did not reach the tray and so flooded the floor when it was used. The hot water often ran out so we (5 adults) showered at different times of the day. There is also a toilet downstairs (presumably described as the 4th bathroom) but is has no seat. There were no cleaning materials and little toilet paper so I would suggest bringing your own or buying some as soon as possible. Each bedroom has only 1 bedside lamp and there are no spare sheets or blankets. There were a couple of extra pillows but no coverings for them. Outside the views are lovely but the 2 lounger cushions are tatty and the chairs could do with a clean. The location means that walking anywhere involves some steep gradients, often without pavements, so I would consider hiring a car (if you are good at hill starts ...) or using taxis to get around. There are also a lot of dogs in the area who seem to bark all the time!! We were on holiday when Madeira went into lockdown and will hopefully return again soon to enjoy the holiday that we had planned but would not book this villa again.
